I am planning to get the long telephone cable ( rj 12) , 5 meters to move to router out of my room. Wondering if the long cable will reduce the speed? I have nbn at my place.
Hi @Tracy08 a 5M cable from the wall socket to the modem should make no difference to your link speed, try to buy a name brand cable rather than a cheapie from the $2 shop, look for one with the A tick symbol, avoid running it parallel to any power extension cables to avoid interference.
@orbistat is right, the 5 meters cable would not make that much of a difference with your sync speed. If the speed will be reduced, it won't be much. You need to consider investing in a branded cable to ensure about the quality.
