Low NBN download speed

HI guys,

we're on a NBN12 plan, which gives us plenty download speed (for now) and is as expected, but I recently found we have only 0.6-0.9 mbps upload.

Is this normal?

It seems very low and I am sure we used to get more on ADSL2+...

I noticed how poor this is when I tried to upload a video to YouTube recently: around 20min video took close to 15hrs!

Hi @patkerry

I had a quick look and all tests are passing for your NBN-FTTN 12/1 service.

But YES, you are exactly correct. The upload speed on a 12/1 service is quite often a bottleneck and creates a lot of questions from customers experiencing issues, especially for gamers or heavy uploaders. Even multiple users browsing, emailing can grind to a crawl, making it feel like a download issue.

The 50/20 plan is kind of what the NBN was built for, and for a small monthly increase can really open things up for for mid-high home usage.

ADSL2+ plus also had a capped UPLOAD speed of 1meg, with an up-to download speed.

But we respect everyone is different and different plans fit different situations.

Let me have a look for you, and I will get back to you ASAP.

There is also a new ''TPG Mobile APP'' to help you with various trouble shooting and account issues, via a mobile phone app.

Thanks David.

I didn't realise that the NBN12 came with a 1 meg UPLOAD cap... Nobody advertises upload speeds!

I'll consider the 50 plan. I just can't get over how much of an inadequate farse this whole NBN "upgrade" is... Yes, it comes with faster options, but for us who don't have much need for it, it just feels like a money grab: we had to go from a $40 plan to a $60 without that much noticable improvement... Not to mention all the issues related to the roll-out...

Sorry, I know that's not really your (TPG) fault, but just needed to vent a little...
