Possible to improve routing for a specific game/location?

I've been with TPG for ages (maybe 10 years) but I pretty much exclusively play CS:GO Danger Zone and sadly no one in Australia plays it. I have to play in Asia and usually TPG is fine to all Asian servers except to Tokyo. Tokyo is always bad.

I have used a gaming VPN called mudfish which reduces my ping from anywhere between 180 and 350 down to around 110-120. But its not perfect so thought I ask if TPG can help out here.

I know ISPs like MyRepublic and Aussie broadband can prioritise gaming traffic and a friend on Telstra gets get great pings to Tokyo... So just wondering if TPG can help out here?

Attached is TPG compared to my gaming VPN mudfish. For some reason Singapore is really bad today from TPG but 99% of the time its fine and only Tokyo is the issue.

Hi @kermitt ,

It is normal to get a high latency when playing on a server not designated to your region. The only way to get a decent ping is to use a 3rd party VPN.

Since you mentioned that the the latency you're getting on Singapore Server are more worst compare to its normal connection, it could be a routing issue.

Please perform the troubleshooting below.

I. CONTINUOUS PING:

To conduct a continuous ping, ensure that none of your other PCs are doing internet activity.
Open up the command prompt of one of your PCs.
Type the following in "ping <IP address> -n 1000" without the quotations.
ping 192.168.1.1 -n 1000
ping http://tpg.com.au -n 1000

Wait for the test to finish and for the PING STATISTICS, found at the end, to show up.
Save the screenshots.

We should have 3 ping test results.

II. TRACE ROUTE

To conduct a trace route,
Open up the command prompt of one of your PCs.
Type the following in "tracert http://tpg.com.au" without the quotations.
EXAMPLE: tracert http://tpg.com.au

Perform another trace route to your game server.

Save a screen shot of the traceroute results.

III. SPEED TESTS:

For speed tests, please run the speed tests at : http://www.speedtest.net
Please just get a screenshot after the test is complete.
Please don't forget to indicate the timestamps for these tests.

Send me a private message with all the test result together with your account details (Username/Customer ID/Address on file).

How do I private message (PM) in the community

Regards,

@Anonymous . You are still using the wrong ping and tracert commands.

These commands shouldn't have     http://   in them.

Consider reaching out to TPG's customer support to inquire about improving your connection to Tokyo servers for CS:GO Danger Zone and fallout 4 item codes. They may have solutions to help enhance your gaming experience without the need for a VPN.
