Hi There,
I've been having a problem with my wifi connection.
I have changed my channel to 6 (least used in my area) and I just did a speed test and here's the result: http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/result/1e55ace0-fb56-11e7-9ff7-0f94cf53da27
Is it because of my old modem?
I think it's around 7-8 years old. It's a NetComm NB604N
Would I get a speed improvement if I changed my wifi modem?
Hi @spurgeon,
Welcome to the community!
To identify if this is a (Wifi/Wireless Connection) modem/router issue. I recommend to do the following step.
1. Run a speed test using a desktop/laptop connected via LAN/Ethernet cable. (Without other wireless/wired devices connected)
Note: You can also use www.speedtest.net for running a speed tests
By doing this you will able to identify if the transfer rate issue is just a Wi-Fi/Wireless or it could be the line itself.
If the wired connection speed test result is passing but wireless connection is not.
2. Factory reset the modem/router.
Note: If you're not familiar how to configure your Netcomm NB604N you can visit the link.
3. Once you're able to reconfigure the modem and connect one of your wireless device try to re-run another speed test and see if it is still the same.
Let me know how it will go.
Hi @spurgeon,
Home phone service should not be affected by the Wireless connection speed.
I'd like to have your connection checked.
