Manuel has arranged the supply of an updated modem next week, hope this will solve the problem,and that the extender can go back to running the security cameras,

If I get time I will try moving it away from the current set up, just to see if it makes any difference.

Tried moving the ext away. Results came back independeent test ext 11.2 modem 7.8. TPG test results ext 11.2 modem 9.4. Similar results to earlier when I switched the extender off.

Thanks for letting us know. As what BasilDV stated previously, the extender might have been overpowering the modem's Wi-Fi signal.

New modem arrived, set up, took about 2 hours to configure itself.
Speeds around 11 mps, so alls well I hope
