Hi

I am having some issues with my new fttn connection

I am using a TP-link Archer VR2800

I am seeing the speeds on my nbn100 plan drop often and a lot of packet loss when the kids are gaming or streaming a lot.

Upstream Downstream

Current Rate (kbps)827692012
Max Rate (kbps)794593036
SNR Margin (dB)11.311.3
Line Attenuation (dB)15.58.7
Errors (pkts)11851132

I have set the router up following the set up guide, still happening.

Any solutions I should be trying?

cheers

Edit, in touch with TPG support at the moment

Hello you amazing support team, techs, pretty much everyone from TPG have been so tremendously patient and helpful. As discovered months ago and denied by Nbn over multiple faults lodged, the last tech noted the issue was at the node.
I have many unpleasant thoughts toward Nbn.co however TPG are so ** good. Thank you all again.

Hi @treffo,

Welcome to the Community!

We can see that you have been in touch with our Technical Team and the issue has been escalated to our Engineering Team.

As per initial assessment, we are unable to identify any fault on the line or network at the moment. However, we can still see that the connection is dropping out.

That being said, we'd like to further check what is causing this and will have one of our Senior Technical Specialists contact you for assistance.

If you have a preferred contact number and available time to receive a call, please send it via private message.

Thank you.

Hi @treffo, thank you for sending us a private message.

We can see that you have been in touch with our Technical Team and was advised to use the TPG supplied modem for comparative testing.

The connection looks stable at the moment, but we'd like to check what is causing the speed issue.

Have you tried checking the speed here: http://www.speedtest.net/?

Hello and thank you for the fast response.

I have just run another set of speed tests, bear in mind the router (TPG supplied VR1600v) was rebooted 45 minutes ago.

http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/result/5878c100-4502-11e8-9b6a-1faca6ac17d7

then with Speedtest and a local server

of note, last night I used the TPG speedtest as we (wife, kids, myself) finding netflix/youtube/etc were buffering a lot

this is prior to reboot  http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/result/148ec580-447a-11e8-92dc-6b43bccd63e0

this was after reboot http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/result/83292ca0-447b-11e8-8913-050885b15b9e

before the router was rebooted this morning (by my daughter as she was trying to back up some work and the upload was 12Mbps, and when I checked the stats on the router it showed 18Mbps up for current and 20Mbps for max rate.

here is a copy of the dsl details

Annex Type:

  Upstream Downstream

Current Rate (kbps)41766109000
Max Rate (kbps)41766114473
SNR Margin (dB)12.613.2
Line Attenuation (dB)14.89.7
Errors (pkts)00

again, I appreciate all the help, thank you, Jason

We are glad to know that the speed has improved, but we'll see how it goes, @treffo.

For now, please leave the TPG modem connected.

We'll continue monitoring the connection and please let us know if the issue persists so we can investigate further.

Thanks for lettting us know, @treffo.

What's the speed you are getting at the moment? Is it happening whenever you connect multiple devices or even with only 1 device connected?

there is one PC connected via LAN cable, currently one via wireless. It does it when no item is connected as well (late night when the kids devices are blocked with parental controls)
