since installing NBN our TV reception stops for a few minutes at various times, notably between 6.30pm and 9pm. We watch through AppleTV.
have wireless extender under the TV and on checking settings it is connected and full strength.

Could you get a Laptop or phone and connect it via your Wifi Extender and run a speedtest please.
Wifi Extenders can be problematic and will often half your speed (Depending on the type) as opposed to going directly via the Wifi of your router.
Obviously the range is an issue if you needed the Wifi Extender in the first place.
