NBN HFC Setup - General Setup

Manuel

This article will provide some general router (or modem router) setup advice.

 What you'll need

  • An active nbn™ Fibre (HFC) broadband service. We'll send you an SMS and/or email when your broadband service is activated.

  • A WiFi router or a fibre-ready modem router. Huawei HG 658 or HG 659

Getting Connected

HFC 1.JPG

  1. Connect the Power port on the back of your modem to your power socke.
  2. Connect your telephone handset to the Phone1 port on the back of your modem
  3. Connect your computer to any of the 4 LAN ports on the back of your modem
  4. Connect the blue WAN port on the back of the modem to the Ethernet (Data) port on the nbn™ Connection Box as per the below pic.

Other devices can be connected via WiFi. Modern routers are typically programmed to begin broadcasting WiFi as soon as they're turned on and have finished booting up.

If your router broadcasts WiFi by default, it will have a default WiFi network name (may be labelled "SSID") and default WiFi password (may be labelled "WPA", "WPA-PSK", etc.). These details will be printed on the barcode sticker on the back or underside of the router (example below).

Using the Digital Voice

Plug home phone directly into Phone 1 port at the back of your Huawei supplied router and not into the phone socket in the wall.

Is there any way to enable SNMP in this router?

I want to track my network usage at this end to see which machines are being greedy.

Good day @jpgibard.

Welcome to TPG Community!

The SNMP is not supported on our modem/router.

Kind regards
