I recently signed up an NBN plan moving from Telstra and I elected to have my home phone number ported across however when attempting to call the number it states: "the mobile service you have called is switched off".
I have received an email stating that my service is active.
Is there anything else I should be checking?

Is the number that you are trying to port is still active with the loosing provider (Telstra)?
If not, then we may experience a failure if the porting hasn't been completed.
If it's still active, then the porting might be still in progress.
