Mobile coverage

Hi,
My wife and I recently switched to TPG mobile in the Port Macquarie area. On the coverage map there does not seem to be any gaps for 4g coverage. We consistently have 2-3 bars of reception at home and around town on our iphone devices. However our mobile calls are very much useless as the other person on the line cannot hear us but we can hear them. I even contacted tpg technical support with 5 bars of reception and they could not even hear me!
This is a big problem as we are not contactable at the moment from work and family. The best we can do is send messages from wifi, text messaging and 4g does not work at our workplaces. Even at 3 bars or more of signal strength. If this is unable to be resolved we may have to switch providers.
Please help it would be much appreciated because we really cannot use our phones at the moment.
