Second hand TPG linked router

Hello
Everyone!

Recently bought a tplink ac1200 router and found out it is from TPG and I'm unable to update the firmware.
I needed to extend my WiFi range so was thinking to make it as a secondary router which doesn't seem possible without firmware upgrades.

Ver: 1.0.0 Build 20180208 rel.59779(EU)
Hardware : Archer c1200 v1.0

Hi @Ksavshs

Is this a second hand router and is no longer connected to a TPG service? If yes, unfortunately we can no  longer update the firmware remotely. You may need to reach out to TP Link directly.

Otherwise, you may PM us with your TPG username or Customer ID.

Hi @Ksavshs . You can try configuring the Archer as Dynamic IP (instead of PPPoE) and connect its WAN port to a LAN port of main router. The Archer will get a dynamic ip address from main router.

Or, define it as Static IP and set ip address, etc.

You can make the Archer wifi names and passwords same as main router. On the 2.4GHz band, use different channel on each router. Channels 1, 6, 11 have least interference.

Firmware upgrade isn't going to make a difference in this mode.
