The VR1600 menu has a software update function but I don't know whether it works.
You could check out DD-WRT option.
DD-WRT is a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware suitable for a great variety of WLAN routers and embedded systems.
P.S. Looks like DD-WRT does not support VR1600 .
All our supplied modem/routers come with an optimised firmware to work with the TPG network. We do not support flashing of the modem's firmware, but you may check it on Google with its step-by-step procedure.
TP Link no longer have the firmware for the Archer VR1600v on their website. Does TPG have a copy of the original firmware that I can download and use to flash the modem?
