New WiFi6 modem

Hi,

I currently have the Archer 1600v modem that was supplied when I connected to the NBN FTTN 50 service.

I have this as my home phone is connected to it. I know I can't buy another modem from outside as then the home phone wouldn't work. I have some WiFi6 devices that work OK but wouold like to upgrade my modem to one that can handle WiFi6.

Is it possible to buy a new WiFi6 modem from TPG that will also allow my home phone to work?

Thanks

Nick

Hi @monksfield,

If you want to use another device to extend or boost your WiFi network, then you need to configure the old modem/router as an access point, but it needs to be connected via Ethernet cable to the main modem/router.

With this, you may need a long Ethernet cable. You may also consider getting a Mesh network or an Extender.

Check these threads for the idea.

Let us know how it goes.

@Rica_R . User is asking if TPG can provide a router that supports Wifi6 as well as being able to use the TPG VOIP service. Not necessarily worried about wifi coverage.

According to TP-Link website, the VX220 supports Wifi6 and this is one model available from TPG.

Hi,

This is not what I asked.

I would like to buy a WiFi6 capable modem from TPG that continues the service I am already receiving.

I am quite capable of extending the wifi network if needed but that isn't what i want to do right now.

Thanks
