Can I add a booster to my moden to get coverage in my newly built extention approx 20 meters away.

The best choice is to run a cable (CAT6) across your properties and set up a router on the new place,

You could use a wifi extender or booster however the speed will be decreased notoriously.

You can use a booster but industrial/comercial type will provide better results.
