The router config allows you to activate both wifi bands or use one or the other. Each has its own name (SSID). The 5G band will be indicated by some suffix, eg. -5G. This is what your wifi device connects to. The default SSIDs and passwords are shown on the label on your router. Your wifi device will detect surrounding SSIDs as well as yours.
