HFC wifi modem

I'm getting the NBN HFC installed and I heard that TPG use a unique adapt and I can't use the wifi modem I was planning on purchasing. Anyone know this is true. The wifi modem I was looking at are.
D-LInk AC 5300 OR
D-Link Taipan AC3200

Or any suggestions on wifi modem
