Hi,
I am using the router provided by TPG, which is TP-Link Archer VR1600V. However, the signal is very weak on the far side of my house, so I am looking for a long-range router, which is compatible with NBN modern. I appreciate any advice. Thank you.
Hi @joyparkma . A wifi extender might be sufficient (and easiest) for your coverage. You set it up close to your router, then reposition it partway between the router and where you need extra coverage. It has to be close enough to the router to get a good signal; the extender will indicate this.
If you use the VOIP phone, you have to use the TPG supplied router.
If not, you can check other brands/models: Asus, D-Link, Netgear, TP-Link. Their promotional material may specify coverage. Apart from just a single unit, there are also mesh devices; a main unit and remotes that use wifi to improve coverage.
You have to consider the type of NBN connection you have.
If FTTB/FTTN, you need a router with RJ11 connector. Or, the VR1600 can be bridged to provide the RJ11 connection and the other router does all the normal routing functions.
If FTTC/FTTP/HFC, all routers do ethernet WAN. Only consideration is that the router supports VLAN function for TPG.
