New modem not working

Bought a NETGEAR Nighthawk D7800 but when I connect the dsl it says no DSL/Ethernet connection detected.

The firmware on the modem is the latest (1.0.1.56)

When I plug the old Huawei modem in the internet does work (using the same cables so confirmed connection is ok)

Have tried turning on and off etc.

Do I need to register the modem MAC address?

If you're trying to setup the modem/router on a TPG FTTB. You may need to setup the following information on your new modem/router.

FTTB Username Your TPG Username
FTTB Password Your TPG Password
Encapsulation PPPoE
Authentication Method PAP
Modulation VDSL2 G.993.2
VLAN 2

For TPG NBN Settings


NBN Username Your TPG Username
NBN Password Your TPG Password
Encapsulation PPPoE
Authentication Method PAP

VLAN 2 (If you're with TPG NBN-FTTN, HFC, FTTC)
