Old modem

Hi there,

I have been with TPG for a 12 years. I still have the original supplied NetComm NF7 modern but it is now very old. I'm finding that it struggles with lots of stronger modems in nearby houses (we're in a cul de sac) having much stronger signals. With more household devices connecting to wifi nowadays I also find that from time to time my devices have trouble connecting to it. Im on an NBN Broadband Unlimited Superfast contract with FTTP and the modem is struggling with speed as soon you move 2-3 metres away from it.

Is there anyway to get a replacement modem through TPG? Or do I need to buy a new one? If I need to buy a new one, are there any restrictions/compatability issues that I need to know about when choosing one? I'd really rather just get one preconfigured through TPG but I can't seem to find anything on the website about replacing old modems.

Hi there,

I understand how frustrating it can be when your modem struggles to keep up with modern demands. Since you're on an NBN Broadband Unlimited Superfast contract with FTTP, it's definitely time to consider an upgrade.

You can request a replacement modem through TPG. They usually offer the TP-Link Archer VR1600v or TP-Link VX220-G2V for FTTP connections. If you prefer to buy your own, make sure it supports PPPoE connection types with VLAN tagging and has Gigabit Ethernet ports for optimal performance.
