TP-Link VR1600v modem Locked?

Hi Y'all  

I bought this used modem to set up as a second modem to improve my wifi.

When a change the IP to match my main router (and turn off DHCP) i can not longer access the admin login  using the new gateway address.

I am thinking maybe the modem is locked?

Hi @Megabuff . Set the secondary router to a different ip address. If main router is 192.168.1.1, make secondary 192.168.1.2. Connect secondary router LAN port to main router.

thanks, mate,  yes that is what i am doing, (plus i turn of DHCP) however once i change the IP address, i can no longer log in to the router for settings (using the new IP address),  i get a "failed to connect" message

@Megabuff . Having made the 2 changes, you have to connect the second router to the main router. You can then connect to either router's wifi. Your ip address comes from the main router.

oh gotya.  i ended up getting it to work but wasn't sure exactly how, lol.
