TP-link vr1600v - hot and turning brown

I have the TP-link vr1600v  modem router (supplied by TPG), which is now getting very hot.  It's located in a cool free airflow position.  The outside plastic at the top is turning brown...I am concerned that this is a potential fire hazard?  

I have seen that other users are having the same problem.

Can TPG send a replacement at no cost?
