Using VR 1600V for belong nbn

Hi I want to use my VR1600V modem for belong NBN.
It's my brothers modem. He gave me tonide it cos he purchased high configuration modem.
I plugged my wan cable in wan port reset the modem
But internet light not turning up.
Pls help anyone.
Its very good modem which covers good area.

Belonb modems are ver cheap
Doesn't give much coverage.
