new Modem/Router for FTTB

I would like to replace the modem that TPG supplied when I opened my account a few years ago. I have FTTB service

Can you please advise some commercially available models that would be compatible with my FTTB service. 

I am experiencing dropouts in the service and believe there might be two issues:   
The first is that the original modem seems to be failing - it gets hot and the plastic is yellowed 

I would also like to upgrade the style of modem/router to one which would give me better (and more reliable) coverage throughout our apartment, which the existing equipment doesn't do.

It's best to check everything including the status of your connection as there are many factors that cause dropouts.
