Im trying to set up Edison Mail on a Samsung Galaxy A53. It's unable to login to myTPG account, citing 2 step verification as the reason. Any suggestions?
Ni @seymour18 . The TPG mail server mail.tpg.com.au uses only username and password to login. Are you saying Edison mail only works with a mail server that uses 2 step verification?
What is the actual error message given by Edison mail?
You need to enable SMTP authentication to login.
What other settings are you using?
Thanks David64,
The error message is "Login Unsuccessful. Your user name or password was incorrect. If you have two-step verification make sure you're using your app-specific password". Port settings are 993 Incoming and 465 Outgoing. Security is set to SSL/TLS.
So no, I'm not saying Edison requires 2step verification ,but wasn't sure if TPG server does?
@seymour18 . Port 993 is for IMAP mail. POP3 mail is port 995.
When I use 995 I get "Login unsuccessful. A stable connection to the server could not be established". Maybe Edison doesn't support POP3.
@seymour18 . Maybe back to basics first. Incoming POP3 port 110 with NO security.
Username and password is the same you use to login to MyAccount.
You should check in your account the type of email account you have. POP3 is free. You have to pay for IMAP.
Thanks for your help david64. I have a POP3 account and Edison does not support POP3. Maybe I should pay for IMAP.
