Hello,

I want to upgrade my router from the original Archer VR1600v (TPG connectio) to a new one.

Can I connect a plain router directly to my Arris modem box via ethernet cable?

would AX86U go well with my TPG connection ? or suggest another one pls.

Thanks

JC

Hi @JC2 . You can replace the VR1600 with some other router. The VOIP phone service only works on the supplied router. The replacement must support VLAN ID=2 setting.

This iiNet article contains a selection of routers suitable for PPPoE and how to set VLAN ID=2 (same as TPG). The methods of setting VLAN ID shown here can apply to other models with similar menu layout.
