I have had to replace my tp Link 1600 router with a tp Link 1750 of my own because the Tpg modem just doesn't reach the lounge room without constantly dropping out as my 1750 doesn't have a phone port will a VoIP device work or should I not waste my money

The homephone service will not work with a 3rd party modem since the voice settings are pre-configured to the modems that we sent.

You might want to try using the TPG-supplied equipment as your main modem in order for the phone to function and then use your TPlink1750 as a router only to use its WIFI functionality.
