Eero Pro 6

Hi.
Apologies if this has already been covered.

I currently have TPG NBN FTTC Broadband SL Bundle 100 (with VOIP).

I have an NBN NCD and a TPG-provided router (TP-Link Archer VR1660V).

I want to purchase an Eero Pro 6 tri-band system. I believe that this can replace the Archer router.

I would appreciate any advice on how to set up the Eero Pro 6.

It would be good if I can retain the VOIP, but it is not essential. (I only receive scam calls on it anyway.)

NBN-FTTC technology requires a VDSL2+ modem or router for the internet to work. I tried to check it on Google, and it seems that the Eero Pro 6 tri-band system is just a Wi-Fi mesh device. You may use it as an extension to the supplied TPG modem or router, but it cannot be used as a device.

 

Note: VoIP will only work using TPG supplied modem/router.

Hi @joesarsero . The Eero needs the firmware that supports PPPoE and VLAN tagging.

To set up the Eero 6 with yourTPG NBN FTTC Broadband SL Bundle 100, you would need to follow these steps:

  1. Unbox your Eero Pro 6 and connect one of theEero Pro 6 units to your NBN NCD via Ethernet cable.

  2. Install the Eero app Eero app on your smartphone or tablet, and follow the instructions to create an account and set up your Eero Pro 6 network.

  3. Once you've set up your Eero network, you can connect additional Eero Pro 6 units wirelessly to expand your network coverage.

  4. If you want to retain your VOIP service, you will need to connect your VOIP device (such as a phone or ATA box to one of the Ethernet ports on the Eero Pro 6 unit that is connected to the NBN NCD. You may also need to configure the VOIP settings on your TPG account to ensure that it works properly with the Eero Pro 6 network.

  5. If you no longer want to use your VOIP service, you can simply disconnect it from the TPG-provided router and use the Eero Pro 6 for your internet connection.

It's worth noting that while the Eero Pro 6 can replace your TPG-provided router, you may still need to keep the NBN NCD provided by your internet service provider (TPG) in order to connect to the NBN network.
