Hi Karl
I managed to get hold of tech support on chat.
It was as simple as switching my phone line from Phone port 2 at the back of the modem to Phone port 1.
And now all is good.

For customers experiencing any issues with their NBN phone service, we recommend to have a read through following articles this can help guide you through the setup.
If you can include photos of your setup, cables and modem lights this will help troubleshooting your phone issues. If you can’t attach photos can you please advise what lights you have on your modem, and let us know where you are connecting your phone handset to?
