Replacement Modem Cost

Hello There,

I have an old Huawei HG659 modem that I'm contemplating replacing.

I have gone through the list of supplied modems from TPG and would like a cost on the following Modem Router - TP-Link VX420-G2V. I noticed there are G2H and G2V model variants, what is the different between the two? According to TPG this modem can be purchased through TPG.

I have a NBN 50Mbps FTTN service.

Look forward to your response.

Thankyou

Hi @Iciclez,

One of the variant of TP-Link VX420-G2V is for Home Wireless Broadband and the other variant is compatible for TPG NBN/FTTB. If you wish to know more about the modem we can arrange our Account Specialists to contact you to discuss the details. Feel free to shoot us a PM with your details.

Regards,

@Shane .

The VX420-G2V is used for NBN cabled services (VDSL and ethernet WAN).

The VX420-G2H is used for 4G Home Wireless Broadband. It supports VDSL and EWAN and also has a "4G" indicator light but has been configured to be unusable on NBN cabled services. (Am I right on this last point?)

Hi @david64,

The VX420-G2H can also be used on TPG-NBN as long as it is properly configured.

@Shane . Does TPG supply the G2H model with firmware that allows a user to reconfigure it themselves?

Is there a non-return fee for this model if a user ends the contract before 36 months and doesn't return it? (After all, it is a wifi router with a built-in mobile phone-SIM card-, more complex than the G2V model.)
