Setting up NBN modem and connection device

I received my modem and connection device today, and was informed via text to connect them.
So far I have not been able to get a connection.
To give you an idea of what is happening-
On the FTTC connection device, LAN light not on, DSL light flashing, light next to Power light flashing (not sure what the name of this one is), power light on.
On the router, the following are all on/ power, 2.4G, 5G and WAN.
The Internet light is not on.
