SOS only with recently activated SIM

Hey guys, just switched from Kogan to TPG. Sim arrived today - followed the steps on my online account, activated with sms codes to port the number etc. Received ‘sim activated’ email and have put new sim in but still displaying SOS in top right hand corner & can’t make calls or use data. Please assist

Also, the handset is unlocked, right? 

Can you test the SIM card if it's going to work using a different handset?

Hi Basil, yes have tried those steps outlined and just attempted to use SIM in another iphone but had the same problem with SOS only unfortunately.
