I was originally with TPG NBN but moved away from them. Is it still possible to receive the firmware upgrade for this modem?

The firmware update can be applied if you are connected to our network.
Since you already moved, then you may search online if you can flash and apply a firmware from TP-Link directly.

Some customers were able find a new firmware online.
You may check it directly with TP-Link.
