I want to get a good modem and I have no idea what modem I shall consider.

@mng . This iiNet article contains a selection of routers suitable for FTTB. They have the RJ11 DSL port to connect to the telephone wall socket. The article shows how to set VLAN ID=2 which is also needed for TPG.

Your considerations are wifi coverage, wifi capacity (AC rating), parental controls (maybe).

There may be other suitable models not shown in the article.
