I am appalled by the treatment TPG is giving their customers including myself. I have been with TPG for over ten years now and this is the first time i have heard of an internet provider breaking its contract to their customers by relinqishing its right to provide an email service. The reason most people join an internet provider is so they can have a permanent email address for either personnal or business reasons and for a large provider as TPG is, they have broken the trust to their customers and also broken their contracts with their customers. The hand over to "The Messaging Company" must come with a substantial reduction in monthy account payments. The amount of email use equates to around 20 percent of the total account usage and hence the contract payments should be reduced by the same amount. I personally will be asking to have my account payments reduced by 20 percent or moving to a provider that still believes in providing the total package and customer satisfaction. I recently lost all my information on the Archer VR1600v Modem that was a replacement for the Huawei HG695 Modem which had issues and since then have had problem gaining access to my PLEX server. I have reset everything as it should be but I cannot find where i can backup the VR1600v modem Config, everyone says there is a backup and restore under system tools but i cant find it. I have just had my faulty Huawei HG695 modem replaced with a TP-LINK Archer VR1600v V2 modem and have just realized that the USB port doesn't support Printing. The Huawei HG695 does or did support USB printing which is something that is still a requirement for a lot of us users. My HG695 worked flawlessly with my printer for the time it was working so why doesn't the Archer support it, it's the same as it doesn't have backup and restore. The more I look into this Archer modem the more I am realizing that TPG is just finding ways to cut corners at the expense of it's customers. To whom it may concirn I have just received my new TP-LINK Archer VR1600v V2 modem and I am concirned there is no Backup Utility on this device, my old Huawei HG695 which this modem replaced definitely had a back up utility and I found it to be very usefull when something went horibbly wrong and I had to restore the settings to my specifications. I find it very hard to understand why it's not there as the User Guide Clearly states that it's under SYSTEM TOOLS but as the attached picture shows it's not there. Can someone please reasure me that it will be implemented in an upgrade and ASAP. I'm sure there are many out there with this same modem that are scratching their heads in disbelief. I have a Archer VR1600v modem and am trying to open port 32400 so i can use my Plex server which is on my WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra. I have tried all the suggestions but still the port is closed. I used to have a Huawei HG695 which unfortunatly became faulty and was replaced with the Archer VR12600v and the HG695 had no problems with opening the 32400 port. I had an issue with the Huawei HG695 modem and TPG replaced it with a TP-LINK Archer V1600v modem after receiving it today and connecting it up the same as the Huawei HG695, I can browse the internet but i have no VOIP phone, when I pick up the home phone I can hear the normal sound but when I ring someone all I get is a high piched tone and nothing else. The phone is connected to line 1, I have tried in line 2 but get nothing from that so it's back in line 1. All the Led's on the modem are steady green on except for DSL, WPS, Phone1 and Phone2 which are off. Can someone help?     ... View more

I have been with TPG for many years and very happy with the service so far but recently my Huawei HG695 modem has been having some issues in particular it losses the internet connection on a regular basis sometimes twice a week so I have to turn the modem off for 30 seconds and back on again to restore the internet. It definitely is the modem and not the NBN box as the lights on the box are on all the time where as the INTERNET and WLAN leds on the modem are off. The second issue is with not showing my network computers when I logon and then its a process of once again turning the modem off for thirty second and back on again and then it doesn't always work, some times the network is restored straight away othertimes it takes up to an hour to restore. I recently installed thunderbird and before that i had incredimail which i converted to eml files and was sending some of the files individually to my Thunderbird email account when i got this messgage   [ an error occurred while sending email.The mail server responded: 535 5.7.8 [TPG-A2]Authentication denied.User h++++@tpg.com.au is banned from using SMPT AUTH due to previous abuse. ] i did this not knowing it would cause the Ban, so could someone please remove the Ban!  I also changed my Password as this was one of the suggestions.
