IPv6 problems, that many of us are experiencing. Put another router in between the TPG 5G modem and your devices, and disable IPv6 on it. Turn wifi off the 5G modem, and go through the new router. And all will be perfect. I'm weeks into a support call about this, I hope i get as far as network ops to get an explanation as to why they've let this go on for so long.

Hi knt Yes it's not just slowness that occurs when the 5G route is handing out public IPv6 addresses, some things just plainly don't work at all. GMail fails to send, Google Drive fails to sync, Google Play content fails to load on Android TV, BOM App fails to load its content on Android phone, Podcasts fail to download on Pocketcasts. All solved as soon as you stop IPv6 routing.

Interesting. Just googled to see who just called me and yep it seems TPG support are calling me and then hanging up after 10 seconds or do without speaking. And yes, i was expecting a callback about 2 hours ago and this was it. Why wait to hear to you going "hello, hello?" then hang up? I heard rummaging around ...

You're kidding? They've ditched the Sagecom now and back to a Nokia? Wonder if we can request a swap. Edit: Oh yes I see, sold from April 10th 2024. ** it, trust me to have only just joined before this happened and gotten the bug ridden Sagemcom :-/

For anyone that can't be bothered playing the TPG support game: 1. Turn Wifi OFF on the Sagemcom router. (both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands) 2. Get another Wifi router, and connect a cable from that new router's WAN port to the Sagemcom LAN port. 3. Set your new router's LAN IP range to something other than 192.168.1.x (as this is used by the Sagemcom). If the new router already uses something else (like 192.168.0.x or 192.168.50.x), then you don't need to do anything. 4. Connect all your devices to the new Wifi router now going forward. 5. Disable IPv6 in the new router. 6. Set the DNS forwarders in your new router to something like Cloudflare or Quad9. (You can decide not to do this, however you'll still be relying on the Sagemcom DNS server if you don't. It's just not necessary to add another layer of DNS forwarding when you can tell your new router just to go straight to upstream DNS directly). Enjoy problem free internet on the super fast 5G. Yes it adds another layer of NAT, but it really has very little effect.

Yeah it was intermittent for me. Also there were some DNS issues going on - sometimes the router would show IPv4 addresses in its list of IPv6 DNS forwarders. Other times it shows IPv6 addresses. Have you also noticed how long website lookups take sometimes ? Sometimes sits there for ages before page load. Also tested with nslookup and IPv6 lookups sometimes outright failed the first couple of times then succeeeded. I'm using Cloudflare for DNS now without using any IPv6 route, and all these issues have been solved.

Yes, I was having those problems too. The IPv6 on either the TPG/Vodafone side or the Sagemcom router is just broken. I tried requesting a firmware update for the modem to see if that fixed anything, but support just didn't want to. Unfortunately there is no way to disable IPv6, DHCP or edit DNS in the Sagemcom (the DHCP on/off option does nothing). I just ended up putting another wifi router (with IPv6 disabled) in front of the Sagemcom 5G modem, so creating another layer of NAT. Turned Wifi off of the Sagemcom, and now connect all my end devices to the intermediate router. My service has been brilliant ever since. It's a shame that the default service out of the box is so broken.

I'd like the newest firmare for this router too please, before I decide that this service and device is too buggy and cancel within first month. Cheers.

There's definitely something wrong with either the Sagemcom IPv6 implementation, or the IPv6 configuration of the service itself. Disabling IPv6 on Windows machines speeds up DNS resolution immensly and stops the occassional DNS lookup timeouts. I noticed in the Sagemcom that the upstream DHCP server is giving the router an IPv4 DNS server address, for the IPv6 DNS forwarders. And the DNS portion of the https://test-ipv6.com/ test fails the IPv6 DNS tests too. It's a shame this great service (as far as the 5G carrier is concerned) is being hobbled by technical issues related to IPv6 and the Sagemcom bugs itself. I wouldn't mind a firmware update to the latest that TPG has for this router, to see if it's fixing any of these issues. it seems impossible to get.

Since moving to 5G Home Broadband, the BOM Weather app (Android) can not load data when opened. It's just all blank. WhatsApp fails to do complete it's daily backup. (To Google Drive) GMail failing to send/receive new email. Taking the phone off wifi and back on to 4G (Optus), the data loads in just fine. Until i move back to Wifi (Sagemcom 5G router), the problems occur again. Update: Rebooted the Sagemcom Router, and all is now good. But for how long? I've had this service less than a day. If rebooting routers is something i'm going to have to babysit & do, I'm not interested. Coming from from solid NBN with none of this mucking around needed for many years. Can I bring the firmware up to date on this Sagemcom 5G router please ? It's still on SGJy100058. I've also done some tests with IPv6 disabled on Windows, and loading of sites seems so much faster. I noticed the Sagemcom router is reporting IPv4 DNS server addresses for IPv6 DNS servers. Sometimes it's not showing any IPv6 details and other times it foes. And the service fails the IPv6 DNS tests at https://test-ipv6.com

I want to turn the WPS functionality completely off on my new Sagemcom 5866T 5G router, but it has no effect. Turning it off for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz radios, still shows it's enabled and being broadcast over the SSID. Is there a firmware update that perhaps fixes this? It even says in the UI that disabling it will disable the WPS button too, but it doesn't - it all still completely works.
