ADSL modem - no phone jack in house - required if no landline?

Hello, I just got my ADSL modem and my house has no phone jacks. I have no intention of installing a landline, so is a phone jack still required? 

Note, I saw a similar question in the community but the answerer sent a private message to the asker.

ADSL uses the copper phone line from your house to the exchange. You don't need to have a landline telephone service. Some NBN connection methods use the same phone socket.

Do you have a pit right next to your house? The telephone line would come here from the street. You may need a cabler to run a cable from the pit into your house.
