Inconsistent FTTB internet speeds

I signed up with TPG FTTB because they promised evening speeds of 90/Mbps. This speed was hit right after the installation. However, since then the speed has been very inconsistent and we experience very slow speeds throughout the day. When running 2 consecutive speed tests, 1 can come out with a download speed of 75Mbps and one minute later it shows 6.8Mpbs.

 

What is the deal? Why can I not even listen to Spotify or watch Netflix without buffering?

Before attempting the troubleshooting steps, we recommend that you do the following below.

  • Check our Service Status at https://www.tpg.com.au/servicestatus
  • "Power cycle" your VDSL modem. This means turning your modem off and waiting for one minute before turning it back on again. This allows your modem to reestablish connection to our server.

In your case, we've run a line test and it appears that the modem is getting a good sync speed from the TPG FTTB server. We've created an article that will guide you on How to check the connection speed of your TPG FTTB service.
