Lan Games - Can't see friends game on the network to join

stephenphoenix
Level 2

Trying to play older lan games with a friend and can't see each other in the game creation menus. These all worked fine before nbn modem. The only thing stopping us before was windows firewall. But these games have all been allowed through. We were trying to play warcraft-frozen throne tower defence. Also dungeon defenders, couldn't see friend to add him in the game creation menu. Just wondering if there's something in the modem that i have to set up.

Good day @stephenphoenix,

Welcome to TPG Community!

If you are playing LAN games, you and your friend should be on the same network. It means that your friend should be connected to your modem as well, either via wireless or Ethernet cable connection.

If your friend is connected to a different network, then you will not be able to detect him and vice versa.

Good day @stephenphoenix,

Thank you for your message.

Since the computers are connected to the same Modem/Router. You might need to check the LAN network configuration on both computers. (I assume that you are using a Windows computer)

Follow these steps to begin setting up the network:
  1. Click Start , and then click Control Panel.
2. Under Network and Internet, click Choose Homegroup and sharing options. ...
  3. In the Homegroup settings window, click Change advanced sharing settings. ...
  4. Turn on network discovery and file and printer sharing. ...
  5. Click Save changes.

Please update us if it's still not working.

Kind regards,

Thank you for the private message @stephenphoenix.

Have you tried connecting the computers on all of the modem ports to see if it's going to work?

Kind regards,
