I can receive and send email from my TPG post office, but nable to connect outgoing server and sent email via Outlook 2016. After browsing the community forum, I try all the suggestions including:
1) Change the email account password
2) Username (wording before @.tpg.com.au) is not the email address
3) Select the option of 'My outgoing server requires authentication'
4) Change the server ports number
5) Use of SSL/TLS
.....None of these solve the problem at all. Outlook can establish the connection of incoming server, but not the outgoing server and comes up with error. Anyone please help.
Hi @Rick1 . Is there a specific error message?
Both server names are mail.tpg.com.au.
SMTP port is 25 with no security or 465 with SSL.
Distinction between email address (with @tpg.com.au) and username.
I try that as well but it still doesn't work. Same, comes up with error message:
Send test email message: Cannot send the message. Verify the email address in your account properties. The server responded: 535 5.7.8 [TPG-A02] Authentication denied. User xxxxxx@tpg.com.au is banned from using SMTP AUTH due to previous abuse.
@Rick1 . The 535/578 error means "Authentication credentials invalid". In Outlook, check the outgoing username and password is same as for incoming. Also, you're not using a VPN server located outside Australia?
Send an email to postmaster@tpg.com.au explaining the problem. Include the error message.
