I often get large variation in speed on different devices connected to the same FTTB/modem.

Just now: -

MacbookPro   26.5 Download and 18.1 Upload Ping 14ms

Ipad Gen-5     91.9 Download and 30.8 Upload Ping 15ms

Try deleting all existing wifi entries on your macbook...

So afterwards wifi manager should show no old or existing connections.

Shutdown the Macbook and restart.

Then make a clean, fresh new connection to your home wifi.

Should improve speeds.

(also ensure your have the latest Mac OS upgrades installed)

The compatibility of the supported Wireless network of both devices could affect the performance of the speed of the Wi-Fi connection.
