Upgraded to 200 mb, but speed is not changed

Hi,

I upgraded from a low 50mb plan to the superfast nbn 2 weeks ago, but my internet speed has actually got slower.

I’ve tried restarting my router and all the settings seem to be correct.

How can I start to resolve this?

Thanks, Ben

Hi @benaj1984

Welcome to the Community!

We were able to locate your account using your community details and it shows that it is properly provisioned.

Did you test the speed via WiFi or Wired connection? If via WiFi, are you using the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band network?

Thanks for the reploy @BasilDV

I tested on Wifi 5GHz (sitting right next to the router). The routers model is Archer VR1600v

A screenshot of the results are below.

Thanks, Ben

@BasilDV I've just had a look at your 'slow speed guide', and it appears that my speed is considered 'acceptable'.

Since switching from the 50mb to the 200mb our internet has gotten considerbly slower (Netflix buffering, ping on games is a lot higher, etc). Since i'm paying double the price, is it worth me just dropping back down to the 50mb price range and getting a similar/better speed?

Cheers

Hi @benaj1984 . I don't think the "slow speed guide" has been updated. What you see there is the NBN100 Superfast. There is now the NBN200 Superfast (which is what you're wanting). I wouldn't accept that you have an "acceptable" speed for that plan.

@david64 Thanks for the advice!

@BasilDV Do you know what the next steps I should take to improve the speed?

Update - I downgraded my plan back to 50mb as TPG couldn't provide me the speed they promised.

I wasted hundreds of dollars and time on this pointless exercise. I would suggest anyone else looking to upgrade to be very cautious before doing so.

@benaj1984 . What type of device were you using on the 5G wifi?

What is the wifi connection speed you get between your device and the router?

@david64 How can I test that?
