Hi @tps1212 . How long has this been happening?

What model router do you have and what is the Build number of the firmware?

May be it was always there as I don't use incoming DTMF often. I posted call time for reference only..

Further details I will provide shortly as I have to check from another device.

This device is now on 4g as NBN is down. However I believe current outage has nothing to do with DTMF issue.

I guess it was always there...Incoming DTMF doesn't work. Outgoing I belive does.

Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 220518 Rel.32480n

Hardware Version:Archer VR1600v v1.0 00000000

This issue has been previously reported by others as given in the link in original post. No definate solution was found I belive except to I guess remapping some kind of routing in the network and I am not sure it actually worked for others.

@tps1212 . Do you have equipment that responds to DTMF tones?

Is it all callers to your number having this problem or just some?

In Advanced, Bandwidth Control is a setting: Telephony Bandwidth Guarantee:

Enable Telephony Bandwidth Guarantee to ensure sufficient bandwidth for Telephony service.

You can try enabling this.

Distortion of tones sounds a bit like this from the VR1600 manual. RFC2833 is the best method to use.

This version of firmware doesn't have any access to this setting. It may default to this value.

DTMF Relay Setting: DTMF is Dual Tone Multi Frequency. Options available are SIP-Info,
RFC2833, and In-band. If you are unsure which one to choose, please always keep the
default value.
• SIP INFO: If it is selected, the modem router will capture the DTMF tone and transfer it
into SIP form. Then it will be sent to the remote end with SIP message.
• RFC2833: If it is selected, the modem router will capture the keypad number you
pressed and transfer it into digital form then send to the other side; the receiver will
generate the tone according to the digital form it receives. This function is very useful
when the network traffic congestion occurs and it still can remain the accuracy of
DTMF tone.

• In-band: If it is selected, the modem router will send the DTMF tone as audio directly
when you press the keypad on the phone.

Telephony menu is not accessible in modem. You need to give this access from network side so that I can play with telephony settings.

@tps1212 . TPG don't publish VOIP details; it is all embedded in the router firmware. Hopefully they've chosen the best settings. The only accessible setting is the bandwidth guarantee. But I don't know whether that helps.

I've noticed that the Archer router makes entries in its System Log for each tone sent and received.

If someone calls your home phone (from your mobile), you look at your VR1600 system log, then the caller presses keys. The Archer displays a message for each tone received.

Then load your network by downloading a 4K youtube video and repeat the tone test.

If you know someone with a VR1600, you can test how your home phone performs when sending tones.

You can push firmware to my modern that has VoIP exposed.
This problem has nothing to do with bandwidth. I'm getting 100mbs + speed and no active IP traffic while testing incoming DTMF.

I will check the sys log for tone message and report.

Here is sample debug log . I tried to listen to incoming DTMF. It sounded horrible very distorted and cracking. Please push firmware version that allows access to telephony page so that I can play with VOIP settings or fix this problem at your end.
