I have relocated to a new address. I brought with me from my old address which is a tplink archer vr1600v modem. The house i moved into says it has man active but I cannot find the wall unit as described. I also only have a cable going from a telephone jack to the WAN port.

Do I just need a cable to go from the telephone jack to the DSL port on the modem?

Hi @jenkinsdiesel . Do you know the type of NBN connection at your new address? You can check it here.

https://www.nbnco.com.au/residential

FTTB/FTTN: telephone cable between wall socket and DSL port on VR1600.

FTTC/FTTP/HFC: ethernet cable between NBN box and WAN port on VR1600.

FTTC has telephone cable from wall socket to NBN box.

HFC has coaxial cable from wall socket to NBN box.

FTTP: cable from WAN port on VR1600 to UNI-D1 usually on NBN box.

Hi David

According to that link I have fttn used

But the cable we have from telephone jack only plugs into the wan port. Do I need to get a different cable??

Thanks

Hi @jenkinsdiesel . For FTTN, you need telephone cable (RJ11) from wall socket to DSL port on router. If you have a telephone, you can borrow its cable to test the connection.

TPG might not have finished the changeover. They send SMS when it is ready.

Hi David,

My r11 to r11 cable only plugs into the WAN port. Will I need a r11 to r45 cable to plug into my dsl port?

Hi @jenkinsdiesel . The cable goes in the DSL port on left hand side on back of router. This article has info on FTTN setup.
