New Router Request

I have had my TPG provided router for 5 years now (VR1600v) and I believe it is on its way out. Drops out every now and then, slow download speeds during peak and even slower off peak and we are on NBN100 plan but currently off contract. Just wondering if there was a way I could get a new router?
