Get online support
Can anyone assist with the setting I should use for my Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4 TPG NBN via HFC.
I just switched from Telstra and was getting 100Mbps down using the same equipment but am only getting between 65-78Mbps with TPG.
Screenshot of current settings attached.
Thanks
Hi @heyfutes . Can you set MTU=1480?
My router has 1480 on its ethernet WAN definition.
Using Wireshark, I can see frames:
Mac header 14 bytes
IP header 20 bytes
TCP header 20 bytes
Data 1460 bytes
The MTU consists of TCP header + Data
If MTU too high, it can cause fragmentation of ethernet frames.
If you use the speedtest on TPG support page, does the upload graph proceed smoothly or stop/start?
Thanks @david64
Updated the MTU to 1480 - still only getting around 75Mbps.
I conducted the TPG speedtests and it all seems pretty smooth (see screenshot).
@heyfutes . Can you find the Ubiquiti's default gateway; it's either in config or do this on your computer:
tracert -h 3 tpg.com.au
First address is Ubiquiti, second address is default gateway.I think it is first part of TPG's network. Long response here affects all internet traffic.
Can you also do:
tracert google.com.au
tracert nrma.com.au
nslookup tpg.com.au
Thanks for your help @adib_rahmang and @david64
I worked out the cause - it is the SQM/QoS feature of the Ubiquiti Edgerouter. If I disable it, I get the full speed (100Mbps). Once I enable it, it reduces my speed (as it should).
I've adjusted the SQM settings to match my connection.
Thanks again
That makes sense! We're glad to hear that things are back to normal.
