extending wifi

I'm trying to connect a TP link tl-wa1201 extender to Sagemcom Fast 5866T. As there doesn't apepar to be a WPS button on the modem, I attemped using the button in the wifi section in the software, but no connection occured when the extender WPS button was activated. 

How can this be achieved. the wifi signal on the Sagemcom is useless.

The WPS button can be found on the back of your modem. You can check out this link to see what it looks like: Set up your 5G Home Broadband | Sagemcom 5866

We'll get you to try connecting your extender using that physical button. If that doesn't do the trick, send me a PM and we'll take a closer look at what's happening.

Hi thanks for responding to my query. 

When attempting to connect via the WPS button on the back of the modem and then the extender, the wifi light falshes red on the modem and the light on theextender also falshes but non connection is made.

The extender had previously been connected to the 4g modem (which was powered down and isolated from the lan lines when the 5g modem was fired up). But I have activated the reset button prior to attempting connection with the 5g modem.
