Get online support
Hi @andyiwancz02 . If you have this already, you can try this.
Have you tried setting the Tenda into Bridge mode in Internet settings.
From the user manual:
Bridge: If this type is selected, the nova node can access the internet only after being connected to another
router with internet accessibility in wired manner.
If you set the Connection Type to Bridge, the Guest Network, Parental Control, Port Forwarding, UPnP,
DNS, QoS, and DHCP server functions becomes unavailable.
Tenda doesn't seem to have VLAN setting so it may not work by itself.
FTTP or BYO router data only plan does not use VLAN. Tenda might be ok here.
Do a search in Community; enter mesh in search bar. There are a few mesh models mentioned.
Hi folks,
Bring this thread up again. I have tpg modem + Archer VR1600v + tenda 3 mesh system. I setup vr1600 connection type as pppoe and disabled wifi on it and rely on the wifi on the mesh. The cable from the medem connects to the vr1600 WAN and a cable from the vr1600 port connects to mesh unit WAN. It has been working well.
With the medem + vr1600 and a unit of the mesh system together, the cables look very messy.
So I wonder if I can get rid of the VR1600 and connect the mesh to the NBNB modem directly. with cabling this way I tried to setup one of the nova units as pppoe connection in the mobile app but failed to connect to the internet.
Could anyone shed me some light if this setup is feasible? I personally think there is no point to keep VR1600 as it just used to connect to the medem while tenda can do it too. But I might have missed something significantly. Any input is welcome.
My TPG NBN connection type is HFC.
Thanks a lot!
Figured out why this connection does not work.
I need VLAN support which tenda 3 mesh does not have. If I want to connect my mesh system directly to the NBN NTD, I would either switch to another ISP that does not require VLAN tagging or purchase mesh system that supports VLAN tagging.
Hey @reindeer, we want to help out right here.
Send me a PM, we'll check out your options and see how we can get you using your service how you want.
Hi @reindeer . You can convert your NBN plan to a Data Only plan (no VOIP) which does not use VLAN.
