An issue about NBN network connection device

Hi,
I am new to NBN.
My appointment to connect me to your network on Monday next week.
I received the modem a few days ago. I noticed that there was no NBN Network Connection Device in the parcel.
I have never used broadband at home including ADSL.
I wonder how my internet with be connected without connection device.
