NBN speed worse than previous ADSL

Not sure what to do
We have followed all instructions to connect the modem
We have only had it for one day and so disappointed as the speed is worse than before. Trust me it was bad before too but was told with new nbn wires to expect it better.
Nothing loads and able to search or do anything
