Archer VR1600v v2.0 Firmware upgrade

Hi - my firmware is 0.1.0.0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 220518  Rel 32480n.

Is this the latest firmware or does this need to be upgraded as my wifi router seems to be turning off/on at random

Hi @mkoshy

We can confirm that the modem/router already has the latest firmware available.

You may reboot the modem/router and see if it's going to improve your connection, else try to factory reset it by pressing the button on the pinhole for 10 to 15 seconds.

Any changes you've made will go back to default once you reset the modem/router and may need to reconfigure it.

Let us know how it goes.

Is there a way to save my configuration and reinstall it before I reset the modem ?

Hi @mkoshy

The backup configuration or settings is not a supported feature in the provided TPG modem/router.

You may write it down before performing a reset so you'll have a copy.

When I called the TPG support line ...they indicated that they can see the connection dropping but the lady on the call could not inform me if this was the wifi connection or my NBN connection.

My question is whether the NBN connection issues plays with the router connection in any way ...as this issue only started this morning.

Hi @mkoshy

Based on the post, the modem/router was rebooting or turning off and on by itself at random times.

Which is why we advised that a factory reset might need to be performed if you've already tried rebooting the modem/router.

If the connection is dropping out, then we may need to run further tests.

Shoot me a PM with your TPG username or customer ID number to assist you further.

@BasilDV . Why is backup and restore settings not supported? The VR1600 user manual done by TP-Link has backup and restore, but TPG has apparently taken it out, with other functions, over the years. Every other router on the market has these functions. Technical users may have made specific settings in several areas of router config. Its absurd they should have to write all this on paper. The backup function doesn't touch the actual firmware, so it's not going to save special VOIP code. TPG could modify the backup/restore code to skip any VOIP settings.

Hi @david64,

We raised this to our Network Engineering Team to consider this feature being available on our supplied modems.
